Meal Planning Monday - January 7th 2013
This is the second week I have had a go at Meal Planning Monday as hosted by Mrs M and it is making my life a little bit more organised. I need a kick up the bum like this to sort myself out as quite often I turn up at the supermarket either having forgotten my list or even forgetting to write one in the first place. Of course I end up stuffing things into the trolley that I don't need or go back later in the week having made another journey. To make things even easier I choose to make each week's meals from the same recipe book.
This week I chose a recipe book that has been invaluable to me, it is the Sainsbury's Classic Recipe Collection. It only cost £5 but I have had a lot of use out of it in the past few months. It has all the old traditional classics from all around the world in it and has been worth every penny.
I went shopping on my way home from work today and bought the ingredients to plan out this week's meals.
Monday (tonight): Bangers and Mustard Mash with onion gravy and peas.
Tuesday: Sweet and Sour Chicken with Rice
Wednesday; Coq au Vin with a baked potato and broccoli.
(Chicken two nights running using chicken breasts bought last week in the freezer and all frozen together in the same bag, so will need defrosting together!)
Thursday: It's my WI night and I usually end up having a supper of sandwiches and cake. I don't usually eat tea with the family on that night. My family can have Spaghetti Carbonara.
Friday: I'm off out to eat in Harrogate as I will be going to watch my daughter dancing in the Pantomime. We usually go somewhere that the kids like eating at like Prezzo's or Pizza Express.
Saturday: Meatballs with Spaghetti.
Sunday: Roast Pork with stuffing and vegetables. For pudding I plan to try out the Queen of Puddings Recipe in the Sainsbury's Classic Cookbook.
